"If efficiency were the only factor demanding attention, it would be fairly simple. During this last decade, the cycling sport has evolved from an endurance sport into a power-endurance sport. The influence of biomechanic and aerodynamic research is gaining importance. The goal is to find a cycling position in which power is maximally converted into motion."

comments: A seriously good-looking bike and a joy to ride. My weekly commute is about 100-150km and this bike makes my transport a highlight.Minor gripes: for a bike allegedly designed for commuters, it's like it was never actually test-ridden by them.-The saddle is awful. replace immediately :)-Handlebars are very wide; I had to get mine cut back which is no big deal. But after two months I still can't ring the bell without looking down because it's too far away. Unless you have giant man hands, it's quite awkward. And the gear thing gets in the way of moving the bell any closer to the edge. -The thing that attaches the seat post to the frame (seat binder?) is el cheapo. While adjusting my seat I gave the poor thing half a turn too far and it totally snapped, ruined.-The holes that are supposed to attach a rack up near the seat post are very poorly placed. One of them is impossible to use because to do so would stop the back brake from moving freely!!-One of the holes needed to attach the rear mudguard to the frame (bar between the seat tubes) is *missing*. Yay for cable ties.-There are two pairs of holes on the frame near the cassette, one for a rack and one for mudguards. But they are positioned so poorly that it is near impossible to use them both at the same time. It's like Norco never actually tried to fit out this bike.I still love it though.

comments: APPLICATION: HIGH PERFORMANCE COMMUTER. OWNED VFR1 FOR SIX MONTHS (VIRTUALLY TROUBLE FREE). SMOOTH RIDING, EXCELLENT GEOMETRY, GREAT BRAKES, AND GOOD SHIFTING FRONT AND BACK. PERFECT FOR ROAD OR BIKE PATH BUT I'M GOING BACK TO MY OLD HYBRID FOR THE WINTER WITH 27 SPEEDS. NORCO HAS USED COMPONENTS OF ABOVE AVERAGE QUALITY AND ALL WORK WELL TOGETHER. PEARL FINISH IS BEAUTIFUL AND EASY TO LOOK AFTER. THIS IS THE BEST COMMUTER I'VE PURCHASED SO FAR. DEFICIENCIES: I'VE HAD TROUBLE FITTING A SIMPLE KICK STAND AND A SET OF FENDERS TO THIS BIKE. ALSO BOTTOM BRACKET / CRANK SET HAS DEVELOPED AN ANNOYING LOUD SQUEAL. HOPEFULLY DEALER CAN CORRECT FOR ME AT SERVICE TIME.
