Lightweight, shorter travel bikes built for cross country racing or harder core cross country riding. Also for 24Hr enduro style rides.
Tight angles, light frames, and no-nonsense parts make these efficient machines perfect for singletrack speed and hitting a whole range of trails. The modern-day evolution of the classic trail bike. Shorter travel, disc brakes.
Great bikes for single track trail, cross country and off road riding. Not built for stunts, jumping or freeriding.
As suited to the trails as they are on the city streets, these bikes are where you can start exploring what side of mountain biking you enjoy most, and they’ll take you a long way down the trail.
Conçus pour les cyclistes cherchant un vélo multi-usage, avec fourches à suspension pour amortir les chocs des sentiers cahoteux ou des pavés en mauvais état.

"If efficiency were the only factor demanding attention, it would be fairly simple. During this last decade, the cycling sport has evolved from an endurance sport into a power-endurance sport. The influence of biomechanic and aerodynamic research is gaining importance. The goal is to find a cycling position in which power is maximally converted into motion."

comments: I've had my mountaineer for almost 3 years now. I rolled over 7000 km's today and I still love it like the day I bought it. I've had to replace the gears, bearing and other high load parts at 6000 km's. They just plain wore out. I use it on trails, roads...even along the rocky shore line on South West Nova Scotia. I use it for daily commuting, weekend cruising and long haul touring around Atlantic Canada. I'd recommend this bike to anyone who wants a comfortable, reliable ride. I ordered a VFR 3 w/ disk brakes today... but I'm keeping the mountaineer for the trails and shoreline. Hats off to Norco for a great bike at a great price.

comments: --Awesome bike for winter--The fat tires, the frame geometry and disc brakes makes it a really great bike for winter commuting. It's not to expensive so you don't need to worry about the beating it will take riding on snow/sand/salt/ice. Only disadvantage, you can't put a rack on the back because of the disc brakes, even with the so-called "disc-brake racks". I use a seat pole rack which works well actually, but it would be nice to have the proper mounts.

comments: An okay bike. Good we stuff like light XC but as soon as you hit anything tough get off and walk the bike can't take it. I started drop offs this year but a one footer will blow your tube. I went through 6 tubes in one summer. Bottom line if you want a bike to cruise around town with get this if you want a bike that can take a little actual mountain biking send the extra money and get a real bike.
