This Weekend in Racing…

Another Weekend, Another stream of results coming in from the many disciplines that the Norco Team chooses to indulge in.

On the paved side of riding, this weekend was the BC Provincial Championships in Victoria. Team H&R Block came out for the Bastion Square Criterion on Sunday and battled it out with Team Total Restoration and Trek Red Truck for 75 laps. With the clouds threatening to pour all afternoon, the course was just damp enough to cause a commotion in the corners. With Several riders down, some were out and others able to jump back into the field. After nearly 90 minutes of racing, Team H&R Block riders Justin Kerr and Jacob Schwingboth finished in second and third spot just behind adversary Tyler Trace.

In Canada Cup XC #3 Both Andrew Watson and Catherine Vipond were out representing the Factory team in Hardwood Ontario finishing in 3rd and 6th respectively. This also places both Andrew and Catherine as the Points leaders for the Canada Cup circuit.  Elsewhere, Junior DH racer Nick Geddes placed 1st Junior, 2nd overall at the first Fluidride Cup in Whistler BC

At the international level, Norco World Team Rider Fionn Griffiths placed 3rd at the Swampy US Open in what turned out to be one of the wettest, slickest and most miserable races so far this season. Oh well right, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. On the other side of the pond, Dirt Norco Race Team rider Ben Reid finished in 8th place at the IXS European Cup in Innerleithen Scotland.

March, May – well they both start with an ‘M’

Hmm lets see, March, that was a little while ago but the update is still worthy! Here’s the Lowdown!

Wow! Olympics! The impact of the Olympics in February hit me in March! Man was that cool… Can’t believe I was such a wiener! I tried to ditch town in order to cruise through the whole Olympic affair and ended up right in the thick of it! Thank goodness, what an amazing experience! Heck I even got to see some of the coolest events rocking!

Had a wicked Birthday in March and went for a week to Death Valley with the boys to grow another year older with a bunch of motor heads that are many years wiser : )

I did get some great pre-season bike riding in. The proto type bike is still railing and I can’t wait to see what happens for production.

Along the way I convinced Ash and Aaron (aka the Powder Chef) help dig out a sk8 park from snow so I could catch some concrete waves

Waiting with baited breath for my Mace gear… 2010 promises to have some sic stuff….. Check back next week too for the April Update, We will catch up soon!

I remember this course from last year, a brutal long climb and a super fun downhill. We had 3 laps to complete. After a 2km hill climb to the start we were ready. A steep hill climb start to our first downhill, I had a little too much air in my tires and was just trying to adjust being thrown around a little more then usual. At the bottom of the downhill there was a creek crossing, last year I managed to ride straight through it, although not able to get around the person in front of me, I actually fail to unclip and find myself sitting in the cold cold creek!!
