Ben Boyko may not be on a Norco anymore but there are a few things that take some time to come to light. The highly anticipated Anthill Films production Follow Me is set to be released on April 16th in Monterey California at the 20th annual Sea Otter Classic.
If you are heading down for the first big race of the season, be sure to stop at the Norco booth before heading over to the Golden State Theatre to see the World Premier of Follow Me.
In the meantime, watch the trailer and you will see just how good the movie will be.
Crankworx Whistler is now well under way with the Air DH, Garbanzo DH, Dual and several other events already complete. Saturday is the main event with the slopestyle competition. Down in the village, the largest consumer show is also taking place and that is where you can find the Norco Crew.
At the Norco tents, you can come out and see some of the new 2010 bikes and collect a few autographed posters while you are at it. Norco Factory Team members Darcy Turenne, Ben Boyko, Jay Hoots, Dylan Korba, Nick Geddies, Fionn Griffiths and Ryan Leech are out for the week manning the tent and taking part in the festivities. Ryan is also doing trials demonstrations through the day for all the lucky spectators.
Check back soon for a recap of the week of Crankworx.
The 2010 Norco product launch took place this year in our own backyard, Vancouver BC. This stellar location boasted some of the best riding in the world but also showcased Vancouver, the 2010 Olympic City!
The Launch started off at the Sheraton Wall Center where retailers, distributors and media from around the world assembled to see the new lineup for 2010. The evening kicked off with a Ryan Leech Demo. Ryan never dissapoints and with a little bit of improv-trials he even used some of the local art in the show. That was not planned . . . .
Day two of the launch involved bike presentations and a ride on Vancouver’s North Shore. Riding some of the classic trails was a real eye opener as there are not many places around the world where the riding is this good.
The third day of the launch was busy on bikes. Starting off with an Urban ride around Downtown Vancouver lead by Ryan Leech and Dylan Korba kicked it off. The bikes on the ride ranged from hybrid commuters to fixies, electric bikes to trials bikes. There was a taste of everything along the ride. Riding through the false creek area, Ryan and Dylan were on entertainment duty while the rest of us enjoyed the scenery and experienced the Cycling lanes on the Burrard St. Bridge. Way to go Vancouver on opening this up to cyclists!.
After the Urban ride and a quick lunch we headed off to Burnaby Mountain, home of Simon Fraser University for a taste of All Mountain terrain. Burnaby is a great area to ride offering a little bit of everything. It was a beautiful day, great trails, and a BBQ waiting at the end. The perfect end to a great launch.
The Sea Otter Classic is a great Kickoff to the 2009 Race and Event Season. Featuring a full line of racing events as well as a consumer show, Sea Otter is a great event to catch some lightning fast racing as well as have a sneak-peek at some new products which are soon to be released. This year was no exception!
The Norco Crew included Factory Team Members Ryan Leech, Darcy Turenne, Ben Boyko, Nick Geddies and Catherine Vipond as well as 6 Norco Employees manning the booth, building bikes and supporting the team.
Ryan Leech came down to Sea Otter with his full trials setup. Over the four days he did an impressive 10 shows in the blistering heat and signed countless autographs.
Of the Factory Team members present, both Catherine and Nick were competing in multiple events. Catherine raced the Short Track and the XC while Nick completed the trifecta of Dual Slalom, Downhill and XC. Catherine was able to pull off thirteenth in the XC Pro Women and Nick placed an incredible 2nd in the DS and 7th in the DH. Way To Go Team!
Back at the booth, Darcy, and Ben were busy for the entire weekend signing posters and talking about their signature models the Vixa and Empire.
The Big draw to the Norco booth besides the autographs were brand new for 2010 carbon XC and Road frames. These frames are gorgeous! The both frames are fully monocoque, feature integrated seat masts and BB30. The road frame is also using a tapered 1 1/8″th to 1 1/2″ headtube. Check out some of the media that have already been posted online!
