Type 1 Diabetes affects more than 240 000 Canadians every year. The disease can be debilitation and fatal if not treated correctly. A cure can be found though with a little bit of help. The hunt to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes is what has driven the faces behind Cyclebetes to work together and do something great.
Cyclebetes is a festival of cycling, bringing people together around a common cause. Diabetes affects people of all ages through infection, friends, family and neighbors. Whether your connection to the disease is direct or indirect, friends, families and the community at large can come together to celebrate the search for a cure. Cyclebetes is about bringing people together around Diabetes and doing something about it, something big... It is this desire for change, a desire for a cure that fuels everyone involved and around Cyclebetes to push for a future free of Type 1 Diabetes.

Through an international fundraising and awareness campaign involving Spin-a-Thons, Lap-a-Thons and a Cross-Canada tandem bike ride the dream of finding a cure is finally becoming a reality. The 2009 program raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and touched more than a million people along the way. By building awareness and raising money for this more than deserving cause Cyclebetes really is making a difference.
