  • Sam Blenkinsop and Joe Smith Crack Top 20 at EWS Round 1

    March 28, 2017

Amid challenging conditions, Norco Factory Racing had solid top-20 finishes from Sam Blenkinsop and Joe Smith in the opening round of the Enduro World Series in Rotorua on Sunday.

The rain that started falling during stage 1 created a slick, rutted course that most of the unseeded riders, with earlier start times, were able to avoid. Sam battled with the weather throughout, but after placing 53rd on stage one he was able to fight his way back to 16th place overall.

Joe Smith missed the rain and took third place on stage one, hanging on to finish in 18th place.

“It was one of the hardest days I’ve ever done – longest day on the bike for sure – over eight hours.” – Joe Smith

Also on the new Range Carbon was Norco Enduro Racing out of Switzerland. Camille Balanche impressed with a 4th place in her first full EWS start, just 2 seconds off the podium. In the men’s race, Alois von Wurstemberger came in 76th and Timotheé Oppliger was 80th.
