What Norco bikes do you ride?
The Rev

Who are some of the most important and influential people in your life and career?
Well, my parents come first obviously, since they raised me. They're the reason I'm here. They've always been supportive of my brothers and me riding bikes. As far as bicycle riding goes, my influences are riders like Mike Aitken, Sergio Layos, Chris Doyle, Jared Chilko, & Chase Hawk. Most of my influences have been from the people I ride bikes with though. There's way too many people to list, but Dave Myers, Robbie McInnis, Kyle Sokoloski, Craig Kost, Barrett Andreychuck, Anthony Messere, Tyler Pulkrabekk, and my brother Steve van de Kamp have been the biggest influences I guess.

Do you have any hobbies outside of cycling? If so what?
I ride bikes too much to have other hobbies, but I do enjoy swimming, photography and videography, playing video games, that kind of stuff. I also just rediscovered my hobby of eating too much chocolate over the Christmas holidays.

Where is your favorite Place to Ride?
Kush trails. Nothing else compares to the glory of that place. My favorite parks are Hastings, Railside, Lafarge, Horseshoe Bay...the usual Vancouver parks. I really like the weird lumpy parks too, like Brookswood, Walnut Grove, White Rock...

What would you list as a career highlight?
Winning the White Rock contest last year, and getting 4th in pro at the Brookswood CDN CNCRT.

What has been your best riding experience?
There's so, so many. Bike riding is almost always a good time. The Do Epic Stuff jam at White Rock last year was pretty awesome though, just riding and socializing with all my friends in practice was the best time ever.

What band or song have you been listening to the most lately?
Lately I've been pretty pumped on Parkway Drive, I Am Ghost, Alexisonfire and DJ Tiesto

What are your biggest strengths on the bike?
Going high and doing tabletops and turndowns.

Do you have any advice to beginners?
Just ride. You get good by riding a lot. The more you ride, the better you'll get. Just don't do stuff you aren't comfortable with. Riding is more fun than sitting on the couch hurt. And remember, "The best rider is the one that's having the most fun." That's a Sergio Layos quote, and he hit the nail right on the head.

What's your best idea of having good time?
A road trip with a bunch of friends.

Why do you ride?
Because it's really awesome. Most of the best memories of my life are attached to BMX.

Do you remember what your first Bike was?
It was a blue 20" with a banana seat. It also had a coaster brake for savage skidding action.

What first got you into riding?
My neighbor got into mountain biking, and built a bunch of log rides and stuff in the forest across the road. It looked fun, so I gave it a go, and the rest is history. That was 10 years ago, wow!

What do you enjoy most about riding for Norco? I really like the family atmosphere, and the opportunity to ride for a Canadian company.

Key goals for 2009?
To ride lots of jams, learn new stunts (back flips and flairs mostly), ride places that aren't in Vancouver, and have a lot of fun.

Sponsor Shout out:
Big thanks to Norco and Mace for helping me out. I'd also like to send a big shout out to my previous part sponsors, which were my friends haha. Your support is much appreciated.
