When we decided to build the fastest XC Race bike available, the new Revolver FS 100, we immediately knew that we had to make a 120mm version for long, fast rides and multi-day events, so we developed both bikes side-by-side.
Sure, there's lot of 120mm travel bikes out there, but for the time you put into training, visualizing and prepping for those epic rides and races, a trail bike isn't enough. You want the stiffness, precision and pedaling efficiency of a modern XC Race machine, but in a no-compromise, all-day ripper designed to handle fast trails and big adventure.
The Revolver FS 120 benefits from the same stiff, lightweight chassis as our XC race bike, but is specially-designed with a longer stroke rear shock and 120mm XC fork – creating a geometry specifically designed for uncompromised control and efficiency during those larger than life rides where you don't have the time to pick the smoothest line – because there's a finish line to cross – whether real or imagined.
To create the new Revolver FS 120, we re-examined everything we know about XC and marathon performance and geometry, and employed a holistic design process that scrutinized every aspect of the bike.
The result is the Revolver FS 120's revolutionary new geometry that places the rider's centre of gravity forward and lower on the bike, which provides amazing traction and control on climbs. . When we shifted the weight forward and lower, we were able to add agility in technical sections with shorter chainstays, as well as confident, aggressive descending.
Additionally, this shift to a low, forward centre of gravity within the wheelbase, means riders don't have to move around as much to accommodate for terrain changes aboard the Revolver FS 120, which allows the suspension to do its job better over all types of terrain, and gives you more energy for that sprint to the finish line – or the cooler.
The Revolver FS 120’s low, forward riding position creates powerful, efficient pedaling, maximum traction, and a front end that stays on the ground when the going gets steep, so you're in control of where you go, and how fast you get there.
Shifting the rider’s centre of gravity forward and lower within the wheelbase, enables them to navigate every aspect of a trail from an optimal position. The suspension design generates increased grip and doesn't wallow when the rider is seated, powering through undulating terrain, this greatly-reduces fatigue by minimizing the need for weight shifts throughout the ride.
The Revolver FS 120 shares the exact same fine-tuned carbon frame as the new Revolver FS 100, our Word Cup proven chassis, and is designed to optimize pedaling efficiency. We engineered the downtube, bottom bracket and chainstay junctions to provide a 40% increase in axial rigidity, ensuring you get the most efficient transmission of pedal power to the back wheel.
The Revolver FS 120 is designed to excel on a wide variety of terrain. The suspension kinematics maintain incredible traction both climbing and descending and provides an efficient pedaling platform without having to reach for the lockout, while tracking better than you would ever expect in rough descents. We’ve also developed a comprehensive, but simple setup guide to ensure the suspension meets the needs of every rider on their favourite trails.
In addition to the XC-like pedaling prowess of the new Revolver FS 120, we wanted to be sure you could charge descents – not just survive them. So, we designed it with a 67.4 degree head angle, a 60mm stem, dropper post and 2.35” tires which, when combined with the Revolver's frame stiffness, you’re provided a level of precision and confidence on descents that will leave competitors in your wake!
