Norco Women Take On 2020

2020-03-06 11:23:24
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. On this occasion, we would like to celebrate the achievements of some of the awesome Norco women and look at what is upcoming this season for them.

Jill Kintner
When it comes to two-wheeled domination, Jill Kintner is one of the most accomplished athletes of all time, regardless of gender. With countless Crankworx wins, US National Titles and UCI podiums, her resume makes it easy to see why she is commonly referred to as “Queen Kintner”. This year, Jill is back on the Crankworx World Tour and gunning for her sixth Queen of Crankworx overall title. The season started strong with wins in her first two events, the Air DH and Dual Slalom in Rotorua.

Haley Smith
After her breakout performance on the XCO World Cup last season, we can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for Haley Smith. The Norco Factory XC athlete has been steadily climbing the ranks of the UCI World Cup and earned her first Elite podium last season in Nove Mesto. She will also be battling a talent-rich and experienced Canadian Women's XC field for one of Team Canada’s two Women’s Cross-Country spots for the Tokyo Summer Games, where she hopes to ride for Olympic glory in her, and Norco’s Olympic Debut.

Anita and Caro Gehrig
The Swiss Enduro duo of sisters Anita and Caro Gehrig are busy prepping to build on last year’s success on the Enduro World Series. Anita capped her 2019 season off with a 5th place in the first-ever Swiss EWS round, and the twins will be looking forward to closing out the season in Zermatt once again this year. With an EWS event roster that mixes classic venues like Val Di Fassa and Whistler, with new spots like Burke Mountain, Vermont, Anita and Caro are set for an action packed EWS season!

Jenn Jackson and Gwendalyn Gibson
Norco excited to step up its commitment to Women’s racing this year with Jenn Jackson and Gwendalyn Gibson racing on the UCI Circuit under the Norco Factory Team banner. Jackson comes on as an experienced XC and Cyclocross athlete based out of Ontario. Gibson, who currently attends university in Colorado, has raced under Team USA as an Under-23 athlete on the World Cup Circuit. We’re super excited to have even more full-time Norco Women contesting the exciting world of XCO racing on the tour this season, upping our focus in the highly-competitive women’s XC field.

Sian A’hern
Norco Enduro rider Sian A’hern has had a great start to 2020 in her home country of Australia, clinching the Women’s DH title at the Oceania Championships, in addition to taking home the Queen of Cannonball Festival title. Most recently she secured a win at the Thredbo Super Enduro.

Lucy Schick and Julia Long
Norco is stoked provide even more support to the sport of Women’s Enduro racing with the addition of Lucy Schick and Julia Long, who are receiving Norco support for their Blueprint Racing Development program this season. The up-and-coming Enduro racers garner strong accolades including Schick’s U21 EWS overall title last year, and Long bringing home a bronze medal at a harrowing Whistler EWS that tested the skills and confidence of even the most seasoned veterans on the circuit. They will be racing a mix of EWS and Norco Canadian Enduro Series events in 2020.
