Whether you’re a talented berm-smashing-drop-hunting mountain biker or a newbie who loves to keep both wheels firmly on the ground, the Hot On Your Heels Women’s Only Enduro is an event that you make space for in your calendar every year.
There is something special about this event that appeals to veterans and first-time racers alike. There are all of the ingredients for a good ride – camaraderie, an awesome selection of trails to push your limits on, giggles, outrageous costumes and cheer squads. It’s a special experience to be a part of one of the rare mountain bike events where women dominate in numbers. Last year, seven Norco staff members rode in the event – a memorable experience for all of us!
Norco Bicycles, in partnership with local Squamish shop Republic Bicycles, has been a supporter of Hot On Your Heels since day one. Every year, we donate a Norco mountain bike, and one lucky racer goes home with it. This year, a Sight C 7.2 is up for grabs. Each rider receives one free raffle ticket, but plenty of extra raffle tickets are available for purchase at the after-party.
This year, in addition to the giveaway mountain bike, there will also be a cruiser up for grabs, and a heap of giveaways from Norco Bicycles parent company Live to Play Sports. All proceeds go to Go Girls! Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds, a division of Big Brothers Big Sisters. We’re hoping for a record breaking donation this year!
To get riders ready for the race, Norco Bicycles and Republic Bicycles organized an official pre-ride on the trail. Riders were divided up into groups based on their skill level and rode the entire course with Norco staff, ambassadors and volunteers to guide them and give them tips for race day. It’s a challenging course, with a brutal 500m, 7.5km climb to start, but even the Beginner group was able to complete it with the expert guidance of Norco Sales staff Nicole and Kallyn. Now, everyone can focus on having a good time on race day, and not worry about whether or not they’ll be able to complete the course!
We can’t wait for July 22nd and the biggest party on mountain bikes there is!!
