  • Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup XC Recap

    August 11, 2017

This past weekend marked the 5th round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Mont Saint Anne, Quebec where the Norco Factory Team & Forward Racing took on the best in the world. The team arrived on the Wednesday prior and were out to check out what most consider the most challenging track on the circuit.

Rain was in the forecast, but fortunately the torrential rain on Saturday was all the skies would offer. Starting off the day for the teams were Peter Disera, Quinton Disera, and Sean Fincham in the Under 23 race. They all opted for their full suspensions to take on the gruelling course. In the end, Quinton snagged his best World Cup and international result with a 4th, Peter was in the mix but ran out of juice and still rolled into a solid top 15, and Sean managed 21st.

“I am so ecstatic with this race! Being it a race in Canada, and finally having some good legs and luck during a World Cup this year, I’m over the moon! Thanks to everyone who is/has supported and believed in me! Couldn’t have done it without those people and the Norco Crew!”
    – Quinton Disera

“MSA has always been one of my favourite World Cup courses because of the super technical track. However, if you’re not on your game any weakness is magnified and unfortunately I slipped from the lead of the race and didn’t stop slipping. Disappointed but my focus changes to Worlds and I’m already excited!”
    – Peter Disera

“It was my first time racing at MSA and it is definitely one of my favorite tracks. The climbs are hard, the descents are hard and the fans are incredible. I didn’t have the greatest race in but it was to be expected after a long season. I can’t wait to race here again.”
    -Sean Fincham

The next race was the Elite Women where our very own Haley Hunter Smith took on the best in the world. She opted for her Norco Revolver hard tail with a modified dropper post. After a tough start, Haley worked her way through the field having the most fun she could and finished with her best World Cup result; 22nd.

“The theme of this year has been consistency and I had another consistent day at MSA. Really happy for the team and excited to finish my World Cup season on a positive note!”
    – Haley Smith

The Elite Men were the last race of the day, where Forward Racing – Norco had Andrew L’Esperance and Evan McNeely racing the top dogs!

“Having a World Cup in Canada is special, and having one of the toughest ones at home is next level. I am very happy with my race and I had a lot of fun racing in front of the best fans! I finished up 50th, which is my best Elite WC finish to date.”
    – Andrew L’Esperance

“Another Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup is history. I am satisfied with my performance, finishing 47th overall after riding up to 43rd place midrace. First WC in a Forward Racing jersey as well!”
    -Evan McNeely
